[ARCHIVED] Construction Notice Update Route 3A Sewer Force Main

The Town of Hingham is providing an update on the progress of the Route 3A Sewer Force Main Improvement Project. Construction commenced on April 14th. As of June 11th, the contractor has installed roughly 900 feet of force main pipe, representing 21% of the total proposed 4,200 feet of force main. Based on the progress to date, construction is anticipated to continue through October of this year. The Town continues to monitor traffic conditions, and to date, the Town has not violated our MassDOT permit with respect to traffic delays.

Due to existing conditions including the location of conflicting utilities and ledge, it remains necessary for the contractor to continue with the removal of two lanes from the traveled way to provide a safe work zone to conduct the work. The lane restriction will continue to be active from 07:00 AM until 05:00 PM. One lane of traffic will be maintained for travel in each direction. Please plan accordingly.

Additionally, the Contractor has requested, and MassDOT and the Town are allowing work to continue on the June 19th, Juneteenth Holiday.

The Town sincerely appreciates your patience as we work to improve this public infrastructure. In order to minimize further impacts, the Town is working with our contractor on alternative construction methods for certain segments of the work.
