The required work includes milling the pavement in the northbound lane from the crown (centerline) of the road to the gutter line, including the entirety of the shoulder, to be followed by the installation of pavement. Main and service trenches in the southbound lane will be milled and paved once the northbound lane is open to traffic.

Work will occur beginning at 7:00 PM the evening of October 30th, ending at 5:00 AM the morning of October 31st. Work will recommence beginning at 7:00 PM the evening of November 1st, and will continue until all paving is completed and the roadway surface is ready for travel on Saturday, November 2nd, during the day.

During the course of the work, the Hingham Police Department will be managing a detour route with detail officers. Travel northbound in Main Street will be maintained. Southbound travel in Main Street will be detoured up Cushing Street to Route 53 (Red Line in image). During the paving operation, the Town recommends that residents who live between Main Street and Charles Street utilize Charles Street to access their properties. If you should have any questions, please call National Grid at 339-224-8315, or the non-emergency number for the police department, 781 804-2225.
