Hingham Center For Active Living Tax Impact Estimator

Welcome to the Tax Impact Estimator.  This tool is intended to provide an estimate of the proposed Hingham Center for Active Living project to the tax payer by using a direct link to the tax payer’s address thereby providing an approximate cost that would be more accurate than a Town-wide average.

Under similar conditions to the borrowing for the Foster and Public Safety Building (PSB), the town would likely issue a 30 year level principal bond.  We are attempting to provide these cost estimates in the same way they are likely to occur.  The Estimator will provide cost projections across four consecutive years, FY27, FY28, FY29 and FY30.  We are doing to this so that the likely scenario of a bifurcated borrowing (50% in FY27 and 100% in FY28) via interest only, one year notes (BAN) followed by moving the debt to a 28 year bond beginning in FY29 is reflected in the output to more accurately describe the debt service impact of the project.  We have further included FY30 so that the user can see the effect of the ongoing, decreasing level principal debt over the remainder of the bond.

As more information is available regarding borrowing schedules, we will update the tool to further refine the accuracy.  It is important to note that while we are working diligently to make this tool as accurate as possible, the output generated by the Estimator is approximate.
