Elder Services

Welcome Back Seniors!

The Hingham Senior Center is welcoming seniors back to in-person programs beginning July 12th! While the majority of our programs are returning to an in-person model, our fitness programs will remain remote via Zoom through the month of August. We are exploring hybrid program opportunities and the technology to support such programs. We appreciate your patience as we work to bring everyone back together in a safe and innovative way.

Transportation

Transportation shuttle services to and from the senior center will also resume July 12th.  Shuttle services for local errands and essential shopping will resume Monday, July 19th as well as shuttle transportation from Lincoln School Apartments and Thaxter Park to and from Stop and Shop. All transportation requests must be made by calling our Transportation Coordinator, Ed Rinella on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at (781) 741- 1458. Our shuttle services are staffed by volunteers and will be available based on van capacity and volunteer driver availability.  Masks must be worn at all times in the shuttle van or medical transportation vehicle.

Nutrition

South Shore Elder Services continues to provide Meals on Wheels delivery to seniors in need. The congregate meal program coordinated by South Shore Elder Services at the senior center has not yet resumed. South Shore Elder Services is offering a boxed lunch program that can be picked up at the senior center on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays and brought home or enjoyed at the senior center. For more information please contact Kathy Glenzel, Outreach Coordinator at (781) 741- 1458 or via email at glenzelk@hingham-ma.gov.
